Positive Minds Book Club in Macon, GA outdid themselves Saturday, November 4, 2006 with the hosting of a book signing for the author of COLORED WAITING ROOM, Patricia Pope. It was gala worthy of Hollywood or New York.
Dwan Abrams, author of ONLY TRUE LOVE WAITS was also there to join the festivities, along with KHAIR KRAZY, a rising star in the Rap Industry and Patricia's son. Master Poet, Charles W. Felder, Sr., delighted and wooed the group with renditions of his AMERICAN JUSTICE and performed several poems from his CD, A SEASON OF POETRY.
O'Charley's came alive as the excitement for the evenings events teased the air around the members of POSITIVE MINDS BOOK CLUB and their invited guest. Purple shirts and blacks pants, the book club's official colors darted the room as the members celebrate the fellowship of being together. It was easily identified why the club is so named. The obvious love for book and each other seem to shout from each corner.
Condra Winston Weaver, Co-Founder, states that the book club's main objectives are:
Literary discussion of African American authors; Support of African American owned and supported business/community; Developing and maintaining new friendships and business/professional networking.
However, Emma Hill, Vice President states, thinking outside the box also plays a major role in their ongoing growth. The city's newspaper, THE TELEGRAPH, printed a story about the group and their accomplishments the previous week in the Neighbors Section. Yolette Sims, Stephanie Harris, Treva Horton, Patricia Saunders, Evelyn Glowers, Emma Hill, Camellia Simmons, Condra Weaver, Karen French and Deandra Richard were representing in a big way by presenting a check to the Ronald McDonald House.
The evening concluded with lots of pictures being taken and Patricia refusing to cut the cake designed as the book cover of COLORED WAITING ROOM. It was a fun time for all and one to be remembered. A big SALUTE to POSITIVE MINDS BOOK CLUB.

Speaking of excitement, a best-selling author, Heather Covington, Author of Literary Diva's created a stir last week when she debuts as the host of Literary Living on Black Family Channel, the only minority owned and operated cable network. Heather was fabulous as with most things she does and the program gets a five star rating from Patty's Page. Tune in for more news on Distilgold.com, Heather's website. Several chat rooms including CHAT IN ACTION, continue to meet M-W-F, where the latest news worthy issues are discussed. CHAT IN ACTION is a room that speaks volumes as to the concerns of the African American community. Go by and "holla" at the Owner/Administrator. Spoiler, Dr. Semaj also has a place where the black experience can be found, and discussions are ongoing as it relates to the daily living. Stop by Black Think Tank Solutions Room with Action and say hello to Dr. Semaj as well. Then Coco Curious is always open at What's Ya Flava 40 Plus Zone. She is home to 40+ Chat, Music, Comedy and more. Lastly, another room featured this month, The Google Round Table which host topics that address Social Issues in our society. Gave a shout to the Owner/Administrator, Google Professionista, when you stop by there. Popeyes618's love for the martial arts landed him in a cast with a broken finger. He holds several title belts, and now will evidently need one of those belts to hold his finger in place. Wishing him wellness and hope he is better soon!
THE SCOOP ON PATTY
Patricia has been invited to be a part of a 12 member Panel for the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN WRITERS GUILD in April 2007 in New York. The guest list consists of the influential and astute literary community worldwide. Patricia will speak to the 150-member audience. More about this elite affair later.
