Message from Patricia.......

After fourteen years of committed services with the Federal Government, my life as I had grown to know it was snatched from my reality. Placed in a position to simply grow old and die, I had to conscientiously decide to live. This imposed determination by the authorities, had only to do with my decision to take a stand against racism in the work place. I said aloud those things that were ethically wrong and filed official charges. I believed it to be a simple process only to discover, nothing about dealing with racism is simple. It has lingered too long.

Colored Waiting Room conceived and birth from a need to express frustration pushed down in my soul after a very traumatic and trying time in my life has proven worthwhile. It never occurred to me that someone other than myself and a few interesting friends would have the slightest interest in any thing that I had to say. Imagine my surprise when I received my very first request to speak and book sign at Penn State Noon Day Luncheon Series. The invitation was pivotal in my quest to live.

Colored Waiting Room would not have been written had I not received the vision from God and the help from some very caring individuals. The most important lesson I learned is never give up on self. Refuse to accept those demons that others may choose to send your way and always hold close to the heart a dream.
